Growing Bolder - Changing the culture of aging

STAY SOCIALLY CONNECTED AS YOU AGE

Our physical and mental health require lifelong care. Remaining connected as you age helps keep you active, engaged, and aids in a higher quality of life. We must consider Growing Bolder!

3 PRACTICES TO MAKE ADULT FRIENDS
  • It doesn’t happen organically like it did when we were younger. It now takes effort and consciousness.

  • Assume people like you. Research shows that you’ll become warmer, friendlier, and more open...eventually becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy.

  • Join something that occurs repeatedly. Doing this will spark our unconscious tendency to like the people we are familiar with - the mere exposure effect. Then ask individuals to spend time together outside of the repeated activity.

“Loneliness is not just a state of mind, but a way of viewing the world. One of the best things we could do for our health is to stay connected. Making and keeping adult friends not only will expand the quantity of years, but the quality of those years will grow too.”  - Making Adult Friendships.” Growing Bolder®, 20 Apr. 2024

Let’s all work together to rebrand the perspective on aging!
